Holy Communion-God’s Unspeakable Gift To Men!

Holy Communion-God’s Unspeakable Gift To Men!

Prayer of Pope Pius VI:  I adore Thee, Eternal Jesus, and I thank Thee in company with Thy whole Church, Militant and Triumphant, for the infinite love with which Thou didst institute the Blessed Sacrament to be the food of my soul. I adore Thee in all the consecrated Hosts  throughout the whole world. I give Thee thanks also  on behalf of those who do not know Thee and who fail to thank Thee. Would that I could lay down my life to cause Thee to be known, loved, and honored by all men in this Sacrament of Love, and to put an end to all the irreverences and sacrileges that are committed against Thee! Ah, most loving Spouse of my soul, come to me in Thy Sacrament, and bring forth in me all those fruits for the sake of which Thou comes  to us, and grant that I may die rather than ever receive The unworthily.’’  *

*The horrible evil of sacrilegious Communions. Jesus once said to St. Bridget: ‘’There does not exist on earth a punishment sufficient enough to punish a sacrilegious Communion!’’ That is, because, as St. Alphonsus said, “The sinner attempts to put Jesus on the throne of his heart beside satan.”

As you probably know, protestants do not believe this doctrine taught by Our Lord. “There are some of you that believe not.” St. John 6:65. Even though Jesus said at the Last Supper, “This is my body,” St. Matt. 26:26, the protestants still say, “No, it’s not his body. It’s only a symbol.” They make Jesus a liar. “He that believeth not the Son, maketh him a liar.” 1 St. John 5:10. They put themselves in danger of hellfire because St. John says in his Gospel, “He that believeth not the Son, shall not see life, but the wrath of God abideth on him.” 3:36. Note St. John’s words, “shall not see life,” speaking of heaven; “wrath of God,” God’s great anger; “abideth” to stay with; “on him.” If Jesus can do all things, why doesn’t He have the power to turn bread and wine into His body and blood? If he could make “the very stones cry out,” St. Luke 19:40, and talk, why can’t He change bread and wine into His body and blood? If our bodies can take bread and wine into them, and change them into our body and blood, why cannot Jesus take bread and wine and turn them into His body and blood? He showed his power over the wine when he changed the water into wine at Cana. He showed his power over the bread when he multiplied the loaves and the fishes. Which was actually a figure of the Holy Eucharist. They say they believe in Jesus Christ, and profess that they are Christians, yet they deny his power to change bread and wine into His body and blood, as St. Paul says of them, “Having an appearance indeed of godliness, but denying the power thereof.” 2 Timothy 3:5. And St. Paul says to avoid these kind of people, “Now these avoid.”

The early Church believed and taught that Jesus is truly present in the Holy Eucharist. All the Apostles taught it. Even St. Paul said, “The chalice of benediction that we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? And the bread, which we break, is it not the partaking of the body of the Lord?” 1 Cor. 10:16. Folks, that’s pretty plain speaking. He says we’re partaking of the body of the Lord, not  a symbol, or figure. And he goes on to say in chapter 11 those who eat unworthily, not discerning the body of the Lord, “eateth and drinketh judgement to himself.” 27-29. How can you discern the body of the Lord if it’s not there? How can a deer hunter discern a deer in the woods if he can’t see it? Sacrilegious Communions, as was said above. St. Paul warned the Jews who did not believe: “Beware, therefore, lest that come upon you which is spoken in the prophets: Behold, ye despisers, and wonder, and perish: (damnation), for I work a work in your days, a work which you will not believe, if any man shall tell it to you.” Acts 13:40-41.

The Holy Bible upholds the Roman Catholic teaching, not the protestant. Even the King James supports the Catholic doctrine, not the protestant. The early Fathers of the Church, who succeeded the Apostles, taught the same doctrine. St. Ignatius of Antioch, a disciple of St. John the Apostle, of Antioch, where they were first called Christians, Acts 11:26; spoke of the unbelievers, (heretics) who denied Jesus’ Real Presence in the Holy Eucharist:  “In the year 96…during this time heretics did not cease to trouble the Church; this is the reason why St. Ignatius, writing to the faithful of Smyrna, recommended them not to have any communication with them: “Be satisfied,” he said to them, “with merely praying to God for those who abstain from the Eucharist, because they deny it to be the flesh of Jesus Christ, who died for our sins.” The Victories of the Martyrs, St. Alphonsus de Liguori, page. 50. Notice, these protestants were considered heretics. St. Paul says heretics are condemned. “A  man who is a heretic, after the first and second admonition, avoid: knowing that he, that is such a one, is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned by his own judgement.” Titus 3:10-11.

But not only do we have protestants and Jews, and others outside the Church who deny these things, but millions of Catholics have fallen away from the Church and no longer believe. Many of these Catholics were taught right growing up, but as they grew older, they fell into sin, and then ignorance, because they no longer studied their faith, and sin causes blindness, as the Book of Wisdom informs us: “Their own malice blinded them.” 2:21. A bad Catholic who was once a good Catholic starts committing some mortal sins. They realize they can no longer go to Holy Communion, so the devil begins to whisper in their ear, “You can’t go to Holy Communion. What’s the point of going to Mass?” So they begin to stop going to Mass, thus committing another big mortal sin each Sunday. They no longer study their faith, but falling deeper and deeper into sin. As their sin grows, their ignorance of the faith grows also. Finally, they quit going altogether. They lose the faith, apostatize, and quit going to church altogether, or join a false protestant sect started by some man. A sect which does not have the Holy Eucharist for the life of their soul. “Amen, amen, I say unto you: Except you eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, you shall have no life in you. He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day…But there are some of you that believe not.” St. Jon 6:54,55,65. Do you want to have eternal life? Do you want to be raised up on the last day? Then you need to come into the Church, confess your sins as St. John says, and begin to receive ‘’the living bread come down from heaven,’’ St. John 6:51-52 (not a symbol), for the life of your soul.  “I am the living bread come down from heaven.  If any man eat of this bread, he shall live forever; and the bread that I will give, is my flesh, for the life of the world. ‘’ Jesus said it. I believe it! End of argument.

Instead of going to confession and getting their sins forgiven, they stop going to church. “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just, to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all iniquity. “ 1 St. John 1:9. You see, St. John says he cleanses us from our sins when we confess them. It is said, “Low information Catholics become protestants; well informed protestants become Catholics.” This is true. Many, many protestant preachers who have examined the teachings of the Catholic Church from the Catholic side, and not the protestant side, have come into the Church in recent years. Stephen Ray for one, is a good one to listen to on the Catholic side. (Google). Paul Whitcomb, one who came in many years ago, said, ‘’You wouldn’t take your Chevrolet car to a Ford dealer.’ ’He said the other side is usually prejudiced. Fr. Arnold Damen, in the 1800’s, a great preacher here in the United States, brought about 60,000 converts into the Church. He said, “You’ve heard many things against the Church. Now hear something in favor of it. Read some good Catholics books.” You can find his sermons THE ONE TRUE CHURCH/ THE CHURCH OR THE BIBLE online at olrl.org. He explains there is no salvation outside the true Church. One cannot be saved in a religion that teaches falsehood, and denies the Holy Eucharist. The early Christians who were such as should be saved , were added to the Church: “The Lord added daily to the Church, such as should be saved.” Acts 2:47. Look it up. It’s in your Bible. You will be very surprised to find proof in Father’s sermon, THE CHURCH OR THE BIBLE that the Bible is not our guide to heaven, contrary to what most people believe. But Father Damen gives hard evidence that no one can refute.  Read it, then come back and tell me I’m wrong. Olrl.org.  Scott Hahn and Jerry Matatics were both hardcore protestant preachers. They were determined to prove the Church wrong, and started reading Catholic books to refute their errors. Now, they are both Catholics.

Many devout Catholics go to Mass every day, because they wish to receive Our Lord in Holy Communion. They understand it is a great privilege and a great blessing to receive Our Lord in Holy Communion. Therefore, they make many sacrifices to go to Mass daily. In THE MYSTICAL CITY OF GOD, revelations of our Blessed Mother to Venerable Mary of Agreda, Spain, the Blessed Mother, when speaking to Venerable Mary concerning the Holy Eucharist, called it, ”the Exquisite Gift.” Pope John Paul II, in his encyclical Inaestimablile Donum, called it, The Inestimable Gift; and St. Paul, referring to Our Lord said, “Thanks be to God for his unspeakable gift.” 2 Cor. 9:15.  St. Tarcisius, a young boy in the early Church in the time of persecution, was taking secretly to the prisoners who were awaiting their martyrdom, Our Lord in the Holy Eucharist. Some pagan boys wanted to know what he had but he would not tell him. So they clubbed him and stoned him to death, and a soldier came up and ran the boys away. Pope Damasus said “He suffered death rather than surrender the divine Body of Jesus Christ to raging dogs.” He is called a martyr of the Eucharist. Would he die for something that was only a symbol?

But why is it that some lukewarm Catholics will rarely or never receive Our Lord in the Holy Eucharist? They despise the great gift that God the Father has given them in His Son. If someone gives you a great gift and you refuse it, is that gratitude?  Our Lord loathes lukewarmness, and threatens those who are. “I would that thou wert cold, or hot. But because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold, nor hot, I will begin to vomit thee out of my mouth.” Apoc. (Rev.) 3:15-16. St. Alphonsus says this is a sign of possible damnation, because that which is vomited out  is not usually taken back again. He relates the story of St. Teresa of Avila, who in the Bull of her canonization, said she never committed a mortal sin. However, because she was at one time lukewarm, Our Lord warned her by actually showing her, her place in hell if she did not shake off her lukewarmness.  Because lukewarmness, if not shaken off, will lead to mortal sin, and unrepented mortal sin leads to hell. She later said it was one of the greatest graces of her life, because nothing seemed too hard for her after that.

“ Panem nostrum supersubstantialem da nobis hodie,’’ from the Latin Vulgate, which, translated means, “Give us this day our supersubstantial bread,” St. Matthew 6:11, drbo.org.  “The holy fathers of the Church unanimously teach that these words must be understood to mean the Eucharistic bread which ought to be our daily food.  Frequent  and daily Communion is greatly desired by Our Lord and the Church.’’ – Pope St. Pius X. You who partake of the Eucharist very seldom, read these words of Pope St. Pius X,  ‘’Frequent  and daily Communion is greatly desired by Our Lord and the Church.’’ – Pope St. Pius X.   Those who receive infrequently are not following the counsels of holy Mother Church. St. Ephrem noted, “If anyone despise it or reject it, or treat it with ignominy, it may be taken as a certainty that he treats with ignominy the Son of God himself, who called it, and actually made it to be His body.” Are we not despising Jesus in the Eucharist when we could go to Holy Communion and refuse to do so? Does not this show a great lack of love for Him who gave his life for us, in order to feed us with his Body and Blood?  St. Teresa of Avila once told her daughters, “If a rich man were to offer you a great gift and you were too humble to receive it, saying you were not worthy, you would offend that rich man. Have nothing to do with that kind of humility my daughters.” When we receive Our Lord in Holy Communion, our merit in heaven is increased, our virtue increases, as well as our union with God, our minds are enlightened by God, and the grace of God increases in our souls, and, we grow in the love of God. Some pretty good reasons to receive frequently, don’t you think?

The saints had a great desire to receive Our Lord in the Eucharist. St. Gerard Majella, once falsely accused by a woman, was forbidden to receive Holy Communion for a while. It hurt him so much that he wouldn’t even go to Mass, because, as he said, “I’m afraid I would snatch the Host from the hands of the priest to receive Jesus in Holy Communion. “  St. Margaret Mary had such a burning love to receive the Eucharist that she once exclaimed, “I would be willing to walk barefoot over a path of burning coals in order to receive Holy Communion.”

When our Blessed Mother was informed by Our Lord that she would once again receive him into her body, she exclaimed, “My Lord and life of my soul, shall I be so fortunate as to bear Thee once more within my body and soul? “ And Jesus answered: “ My beloved Mother, you shall receive me many times in the Blessed Sacrament, and after my death and Ascension it will be your consolation, for I shall choose your sincere and loving  heart as My most pleasing and delightful resting place.” From that hour Mary humbly and gratefully began to prepare herself in all her thoughts and actions for the time when she could receive Holy Communion, and she prayed fervently that all men might know and appreciate this greatest of all Sacraments…’’ – The Life of Mary As Seen By The Mystics, chap. XXII. “She offered up all her weekly exercises of the Passion; prostrations in the form of a Cross, genuflections, prayers, and acts of adoration and humility. Approaching Holy Communion, she made three profound genuflections, all inflamed with love.” The Mystical City of God.
