If I am not going to Mass every Sunday as I should be, I am living in sin.
If I am living in adultery, I am living in sin.
If I am fornicating with another person, I am living in sin.
If I am swearing a lot, I am living in sin.
If I am dressing immodest and seductively, I am living in sin.
If I am watching tv for hours each day and wasting away the time God has given me to pray for myself and others, neglecting good works I should be doing, I am living in sin. St. Alphonsus said we would be held accountable on the Day of Judgment for wasting time. The Value of Time — “Why stand you here idle all day?” https://motherofgodlibrary.org/2022/04
If I am using profanity on a regular basis, vulgarity in public, scandalizing those around me, especially little children, I am living in sin.
If I am failing to instruct my children in the faith, I am living in sin.
If I give more attention to sports, taking my children to practice and games, but not taking them to church as I should nor instructing them in the faith, I am living in sin.
If I am living with another partner outside of wedlock, or not in a proper Catholic marriage in the Church, I am living in sin.
If I am a heretic, blaspheming and denying the true Church and its doctrine, I am living in sin.
If I am a drunkard, keeping company with sinners at bars, etc. I am living in sin.

If I am doing unnecessary servile work on Sunday regularly, I am living in sin. A woman asked St. John Vianney if they could get their hay in, because she thought it was going to rain and he said, ”No.” She disobeyed the good priest, got her hay in, and that night the woman died! A man in the Bible was merely picking up sticks on the Sabbath and they took him to Moses, and Moses asked God what to do, and God said, “Stone him to death.” Numbers chapter 15, because it said “He contemned the word of the Lord.” Like Adam and Eve, who contemned the word of the Lord and ate the little apple. What was so serious about that? It was the sin of disobedience to God’s command. How serious was it? Well, it killed the whole human race, caused women to have great labor pains in birth, and brought untold sufferings on the human race!
Am I shopping on Sunday like any other day unnecessarily, Groceries, Walmart, Home Depot or the like, then I am living in sin, because I am contemning the word of God which forbids this: “And if the people of the land bring in things to sell, or any things for use, to sell them on the sabbath day, that we would not buy them of them on the sabbath, or on the holy day. “ [2 Esdras (Nehemiah) 10:31]
If I am neglecting to instruct my children in the faith, then I am living in sin.
If I refuse to enter the true Church, because I may lose friends, family, and monetary loss, knowing it to be so, then I am living in sin. Sometimes the salvation of our soul calls for great sacrifice. “The kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent bear it away.” [Matthew 11:12]. (drbo.org) St. Alphonsus said we must do violence to our soul sometimes to gain heaven.
If I have left the Church for a false religion, I am living in sin. Jesus Christ said to Peter, “And I say to thee: That thou art Peter; and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give to thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven. And whatsoever thou shalt bind upon earth, it shall be bound also in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose upon earth, it shall be loosed also in heaven… And if he will not hear them: tell the church. And if he will not hear the church, let him be to thee as the heathen and publican.” St. Matthew 16:18-20 and 18:17. Here theologians tell us that Jesus Christ is threatening us with damnation if we refuse to hear the Church, and putting us in a class with the heathen and the publican (public sinner), who cannot be saved if they do not repent. Those who leave the Church and refuse to hear it anymore, and those who refuse to come in, they are in this class, and cannot be saved unless they repent. As the Scripture says, those who were such as to be saved, were added to the Church: “And the Lord increased daily together (to the Church), such as should be saved.” Acts 2:47.
If I fail to honor my mother and father as I should, I am living in sin.
If I am lazy (slothful) and refuse to work, I am living in sin. “Man is born to labor.” Job 5:7. “If he will not work, neither let him eat,” said St. Paul, “For also when we were with you, this we declared to you: that, if any man will not work, neither let him eat.” [2 Thessalonians 3:10].
If I am coveting another man’s wife or good, I am living in sin. 9th and 10th commandments.

We must guard the tongue, avoid gossip, and speak charitably and truthfully. “He that hath no guard over his speech, shall meet with evils.” Proverbs 13:3. A bridle on the tongue. “And if any man think himself to be religious, not bridling his tongue, but deceiving his own heart, this man’s religion is vain.” St. James 1:26. “Make a balance for thy words, and a just bridle for thy mouth.” [Ecclesiasticus (Sirach) 28:29]
If I am cussing, swearing and telling bad jokes all the time, I am living in sin. ” But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not so much as be named among you, as becometh saints: Or obscenity, or foolish talking, or scurrility, (bad jokes), which is to no purpose; but rather giving of thanks. For know you this and understand, that no fornicator, or unclean, or covetous person (which is a serving of idols), hath inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no man deceive you with vain words. For because of these things cometh the anger of God upon the children of unbelief. 7 Be ye not therefore partakers with them.” [Ephesians 5:3-6].
If I no longer believe Jesus is in the Eucharist, I am living in sin. “Then Jesus said to them: Amen, amen I say unto you: Except you eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, you shall not have life in you.” St. John 6:54. “He that believeth not the Son, maketh him a liar.” 1 St. John 5:10. “He that believeth not the Son, shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.” John 3:36. “He that believeth not shall be condemned.” St. Mark 16:16.
If I am overcharging for my goods, I am living in sin. Most stores are guilty of that. “A deceitful balance is an abomination before the Lord: and a just weight is his will.” [Proverbs 11:1]. If I am underpaying what I should be paying, and charging a high price to the buyer, then I am living in sin.
If I am a thief, and a drug user, then I am living in sin.
If I am a glutton, then I am living in sin. Whose end is destruction; whose God is their belly; and whose glory is in their shame; who mind earthly things.” [Philippians 3:19]
Our religion consists of two things, faith and morals. And like two tires on a bike, they both have to be good to get you there. Faith – we must believe rightly; Morals – we must live chastely with our tongues, our dress, and our actions. No illicit sex, no illicit partners, adultery.
Pastors & preachers: If I refuse to correct manifest sinners, adulterers, fornicators, birth controllers, immodest women – giving them sacrilegious Communions and others, I am living in sin. Remember, sins of omission can be just as serious as sins of commission. “The rich man,” said Father Rhodes, “went to hell for his sin of omission of not feeding Lazarus.” St. Leonard relates the story in his COUNSELS TO CONFESSORS of a priest and adulterer who were both damned because the priest would routinely absolve the adulterer without making him give up his sin!
If we want to live well, and die well, and save our souls from eternal fire and damnation, then we should pray the rosary every day and wear the Brown Scapular. By doing this, Mary leads us out of sin, back to confession and to the Holy Eucharist, the life of our soul, and salvation. “He that shall find me, shall find life, and shall have salvation from the Lord.” [Proverbs 8:35]
“He who wishes to have the fruit of life, which is Jesus Christ, must have the tree of life, which is Mary.” These are the words of St. Louis de Montfort, TRUE DEVOTION TO MARY. “She is a tree of life to them that lay hold on her: and he that shall retain her is blessed.” Proverbs 3:18.
