WHY DO YOU CATHOLICS PRAY TO MARY?
“Why do you Catholics pray to Mary? The Bible says Jesus is the one mediator between God and man.” First off, that’s a very good question. “For there is one God, and one mediator of God and men, the man Christ Jesus: Who gave himself a redemption for all.” “That is,” says St. Alphonsus, “a mediator of justice.” Meaning, that he being God, is the only one who could satisfy for the sins of all men. As the footnote says, 5, “One mediator”: Christ is the one and only mediator of redemption, who gave himself, as the apostle writes in the following verse. 1 Tim. 2:5-6. But that does not mean no one else can pray for you. As a matter of fact, if you are a non-Catholic, do you all not intercede for others? In the Name of Jesus? Are you not a little mediator? Are you not going between that person you are praying for and Jesus? Of course.
St. Louis de Montfort said, “We go to Jesus through Mary because that is the way He came to us, and He said, “As I have given you an example, so do you also.” St. John 13:15. When we go to Mary and ask her to intercede for us, she goes through Jesus the same as you and I. However, her being the Mother of God, the mother of Jesus, her prayers are much more effective and powerful than ours are. Mary never sinned, whereas we are all sinners. Scripture speaks of one perfect woman, “One is my dove, my perfect one is but one, she is the only one of her mother, the chosen of her that bore her. The daughters saw her, and declared her most blessed: the queens and concubines, and they praised her.” Mary was the only child of her mother St. Anne, and she was declared most blessed. She herself, when she was chosen to be the Mother of God, humbly acknowledged that from henceforth, all generations would call her blessed because God had done great things to her: “Behold from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed. Because he that is mighty, hath done great things to me; and holy is his name.” St. Luke 1:48-49. This was why the angel was able to call her “full of grace” at the Anunciation: “And the angel being come in, said unto her: Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.” 1:28. As the scripture says, “One is my dove, my perfect one is but one.” Because Mary never sinned, and always did God’s will, one day St. Bridget heard Our Lord say to Mary, “Since while you were on earth you never refused me nothing, now that you are in heaven, ask me what you will and I will refuse you nothing.”
Secondly, we ask her prayers because she is our spiritual mother. “This man and that man were born in her,” Ps. 86:5, drbo.org. “The first man born in Mary, according to some of the early Fathers of the Church, was Jesus Christ the Godman; the second man is mere man born spiritually, by adoption. The same mother that brings forth the head, also brings forth the body and its members,” according to St. Louis de Montfort. “And he hath subjected all things under his feet, and hath made him head over all the church, which is his body.” Eph. 1:22-23. If Mary is the mother of the head, Jesus Christ, she must necessarily also be the mother of his body, the Church and its members. Children run to their mother for help, do they not? This is why we see in Apoc. (Rev.) 12:17,”the dragon, (which is the devil), goes off to wage war witht the rest of her seed, who have the testimony of Jesus Christ, and keep the commandments of God.”
Thirdly, Mary is the tree, Jesus is the fruit. You go to the tree to receive the fruit. “She is a tree of life to them that lay hold on her: and he that shall retain her is blessed.” [Proverbs 3:18]. “He who wishes to have the fruit of life, Jesus Christ, must have the tree of life, which is Mary.” – St. Louis de Montfort. And from St. Alphonsus de Liguori, “Whoever wishes to find the fruit must find the tree. Whoever wishes to find Jesus must find Mary. “And going in they found the child with his mother Mary.” St. Matthew 2:11. When we go to Mary and ask her prayers, she gives us her fruit, which is Jesus Christ in Holy Communion, for the life of our souls. See Saint John chapter 6:48-69, drbo.org concerning the necessity of the bead of life for the life of our souls. But if we cut off our devotion to her, we cut down the tree, and lose the graces we need to have life in our souls, and eventually eternal life in heaven. This is one reason why millions of Catholics have left the Church and joined protestant denominations. They had no devotion to Mary, or lost what they did have; they cut down the tree of life, and lost its fruit, then lost their faith. Mary is to be spiritually rooted in our souls as a spiritual tree, in order that the fruit of life, Jesus Christ, may flourish there. And when we lose the true faith, we become apostates and heretics, and cannot be saved outside the true Church. THERE IS NO SALVATION OUTSIDE THE TRUE CHURCH. This is dogma. ““Outside the Church there is no salvation” (Extra Ecclesiam Nulla Salus) is a doctrine of the Catholic Faith that was taught By Jesus Christ to His Apostles, preached by the Fathers, defined by popes and councils and piously believed by the faithful in every age of the Church. Here is how the Popes defined it:
“There is but one universal Church of the faithful, outside which no one at all is saved.” (Pope Innocent III, Fourth Lateran Council, 1215.)
“We declare, say, define, and pronounce that it is absolutely necessary for the salvation of every human creature to be subject to the Roman Pontiff.” (Pope Boniface VIII, the Bull Unam Sanctam, 1302.)
“The most Holy Roman Church firmly believes, professes and preaches that none of those existing outside the Catholic Church, not only pagans, but also Jews and heretics and schismatics, can have a share in life eternal; but that they will go into the eternal fire which was prepared for the devil and his angels, unless before death they are joined with Her; and that so important is the unity of this ecclesiastical body that only those remaining within this unity can profit by the sacraments of the Church unto salvation, and they alone can receive an eternal recompense for their fasts, their almsgivings, their other works of Christian piety and the duties of a Christian soldier. No one, let his almsgiving be as great as it may, no one, even if he pour out his blood for the Name of Christ, can be saved, unless he remain within the bosom and the unity of the Catholic Church.” (Pope Eugene IV, the Bull Cantate Domino, 1441.)” – https://catholicism.org/outside-the-church-there-is-no-salvation. For those who only believe the Bible, well the Bible says those who were such as should be saved were added to the Church: The Lord added daily to the church such as should be saved.” Acts 2:47.
What is a heretic? A heretic is one who denies one or more doctrines of the faith. St. Paul says the heretic is condemned by his own judgement, Titus 3:10-11, because he thinks he knows more than Christ’s Church, “the pillar and ground of ruth, 1 Tim. 3:15. As a building is held up by the pillars and the foundation, the ground, so truth is held up by Christ’s Church. That is why Jesus said, “If he will not hear the Church, let him be to thee as the heathen and the publican (public sinner).” St. Matthew 18:17.
JESUS’ CONDEMNATION OF HERETICS: To Mother Marianna: “A thousand times cursed be those heretics and their followers, who place in doubt these mysteries concerning myself and my mother. Let them be cursed, and let their eternal abode be the center of the earth, together with the father of lies, Lucifer and his henchmen. Inside the fire, created by the divine ire for the rebellious angels, and the men who follow them, severing themselves from the truth, and leaving the Catholic Church.” A Terrible Vision: Luther In Hell: https://tinyurl.com/yma3ps66. Luther became a heretic, then an apostate, then lost his soul. If the fire of hell does not cause you to fear, I would suggest you practice each day putting your finger on a hot burner for two seconds each day. Or the next time you are dying of thirst or languishing from the heat for A/C or a cold drink, remember the fires of hell and consider if that’s where you want to wind up at. Or if you are suffering from injuries or ailments and wish the pain would go away, remember the suffering of the damned in hell, and it will NEVER end. Do not be like the majority of the foolish ones St. Faustina saw in hell, of whom she said, “Most souls in hell, did not really believe there was a hell.”
Many men persuade themselves they are on the road to heaven because they profess Jesus, even though they are heretics. “There is a way which seemeth just to a man: but the ends thereof lead to death.” Proverbs 14:12. To drive the point home, Soloman repeats this warning just two chapters later: “There is a way that seemeth to a man right: and the ends thereof lead to death.” 16:25. As Jesus said, Just because they call him Lord will not save them: “Not every one that saith to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven: but he that doth the will of my Father who is in heaven, he shall enter into the kingdom of heaven.” St. Matt. 7:21; “And why call you me, Lord, Lord; and do not the things which I say?” St. Luke 6:46. “Many souls are lost Father. Very many.” Such were the words of Sr. Lucy to Father Lombarde, who had the vision of hell in 1917 with her cousins Francisco and Jacinta at Fatima, Portugal. SOULS IN HELL. WHAT THE SAINTS AND SCRIPTURES SAY ABOUT IT. – https://motherofGodlibrary.org/2019/04/. As a holy old deacon said one day, “You can say, Lord, Lord, till your tongue falls out of your throat, but if you’re not doing God’s will, you will not be saved.”
For a correct understanding of why Mary is necessary for salvation, and her place in the economy of salvation, I recommend the reading of TRUE DEVOTION TO MARY by St. Louis de Montfort; and THE GLORIES OF MARY by St. Alphonsus de Liguori. Our Lord Jesus used Mary to come into the world, and made her the channel of grace, so to speak. And since all our good comes from God through Jesus as St. Paul says, “He that spared not even his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how hath he not also, with him, given us all things?” And all these good things in Jesus came to us through Mary, and her consent to be his mother. Therefore Wisdom says of her: “Now all good things came to me together with her, and innumerable riches through her hands… For she is an infinite treasure to men! which they that use, become the friends of God…” Wisdom 7:11,14. Therefore, Scripture has her saying: “I am the mother of fair love, and of fear, and of knowledge, and of holy hope. In me is all grace of the way and of the truth, in me is all hope of life and of virtue. Come over to me, all ye that desire me, and be filled with my fruits.” Ecclus. 24:24-26.
“For God so loved the world, as to give his only begotten Son; that whosoever believeth in him, may not perish, but may have life everlasting.” St. John 3:16. St. Bonaventure said, “Mary so loved the world as to give her only begotten Son; that whosoever believeth in him, may not perish, but may have life everlasting.” Mary also sacrificed her Son for our salvation, which we remember every Holy Week. We are under great obligations to Mary for all she did for us. She perfectly united her sacrifice to that of Jesus, but can you imagine seeing your Son torn to shreds in the scourging, then seeing him with all those thorns in his head as a mock king; then witnessing him carry that great load of the cross on his shoulders up the hill to Calvary falling many times along the way; then finally watching them nail those big nails in his hands and feet, and standing with him at the cross, standing I say, not sitting, for three long unimaginable hours watching her Son writhe and die on the Cross? “To what shall I compare thee? or to what shall I liken thee, O daughter of Jerusalem? to what shall I equal thee, that I may comfort thee, O virgin daughter of Sion? for great as the sea is thy destruction: who shall heal thee?” Lamentations 2:13. Now, the sword of sorrow has pierced her heart., St. Luke 2:25. None of us could ever have done what she went through, and yet, heretics have the gall to say, “She was just an ordinary woman like everyone else,” contrary to the scripture which says she was blessed among women. She offered her Son, and all her sufferings with him, for our salvation and that of all men. Doesn’t that deserve our gratitude and love? Most certainly, and we Catholics love our Blessed Mother and strive to honor her with her Son. Those who do not love and honor the Blessed Mother on earth cannot expect to be welcomed and honored by her Son in heaven. The insult to his mother redounds back to the Son.
Mary wants us to pray the rosary everyday for sinners and our own souls; to wear the Brown Scapular which has the promise of salvation to those who die wearing it, (Not those who carry it but wear it); plus it’s a protection in danger if we wear it. She has said we must amend our lives and cease offending God, for He is too much offended already. We must do penance, by making daily sacrifices. We have been told to do these things. We will be blessed if we do them, cursed if we do not. She warned of the errors of Russia; the rise of communism, another world war; the annihilation of nations if we do not heed; and even fire will fall from heaven and a great part of humanity will be destroyed; another great war with Russia, (Prophecies of Sr. Elena Aiello at motherofGodlibrary.org); immodest fashions, sins of the flesh, and many souls going to hell if we do not heed her warnings and instruction. Even warning the clergy: “Priests must be very pure, and concern themselves only with the things of God.” The Catholic Church has been infiltrated by the communists, and as many of you know, we have many bad Catholics and clergy. St. Leonard said if a Catholic goes to hell, they will be so deep you will have to turn hell upside down to find them, The Little Number of Those Who Are Saved, https://tinyurl.com/mr3btvkn, or olrl.org, Writings of the Saints.
“THE ROSARY IS A PRICELESS TREASURE INSPIRED BY GOD.” – St. Louis de Montfort
“Every Hail Mary is like a blow on my head. If Christians only knew how powerful the rosary is, it would be my end.” Fr. Gabriel Amorth had a colleague who heard this in an exorcism.
