Act of Consecration of the Human Race to the Sacred Heart of Jesus

We entrust the human race to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. We beg Him for the conversion of sinners, and pray in a special manner for family members who have unhappily left the true Church, to either join in false protestant sects, or have given up the faith entirely. ”And other sheep I have, that are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice, and there shall be one fold and one shepherd.” St. John 10:16.

Most sweet Jesus, Redeemer of the human race, look down upon us,
humbly prostrate before Thine altar. We are Thine and Thine we wish to be; but to be more surely united with Thee, behold each one of us freely consecrates himself today to Thy Most Sacred Heart.

Many, indeed, have never known Thee; many, too, despising Thy precepts,
have rejected Thee. Have mercy on them all, most merciful Jesus,
and draw them to Thy Sacred Heart. Be Thou King, O Lord,
not only of the faithful who have never forsaken Thee,
but also of the prodigal children who have abandoned Thee,
grant that they may quickly return to their Father’s house,
lest they die of wretchedness and hunger. Be Thou King of those who are deceived by erroneous opinions, or whom discord keeps aloof
and call them back to the harbour of truth and unity of faith,
so that soon there may be but one flock and one shepherd. Be Thou King of all those who even now sit in the shadow of idolatry or Islam,
and refuse not Thou to bring them into the light of Thy kingdom.
Look, finally, with eyes of pity upon the children of that race,
which was for so long a time Thy chosen people; and let Thy Blood, which was once invoked upon them in vengeance, now descend upon them also in a cleansing flood of redemption and eternal life.

Grant, O Lord, to Thy Church, assurance of freedom and immunity from harm; give peace and order to all nations, and make the earth resound
from pole to pole with one cry: Praise to the Divine Heart that wrought our salvation: to it be glory and honour forever. Amen

By Pope Pius XI

The true Church is necessary for salvation, the Roman Catholic Church. The Apostles said in the Apostles Creed, “I believe in the holy Catholic Church.” You can trace the Church’s existence all the way back to 33 A.D. through the popes. Look up the list of popes. The Bible itself says those who were saved were added to the Church: “THE LORD ADDED DAILY TO THE CHURCH, SUCH AS SHOULD BE SAVED.” ACTS 2:47.

“Outside the Church there is no salvation” (extra ecclesiam nulla salus) is a doctrine of the Catholic Faith that was taught By Jesus Christ to His Apostles, preached by the Fathers, defined by popes and councils and piously believed by the faithful in every age of the Church. Here is how the Popes defined it:

  • “There is but one universal Church of the faithful, outside which no one at all is saved.” (Pope Innocent III, Fourth Lateran Council, 1215.)
  • “We declare, say, define, and pronounce that it is absolutely necessary for the salvation of every human creature to be subject to the Roman Pontiff.” (Pope Boniface VIII, the Bull Unam Sanctam, 1302.)
  • “The most Holy Roman Church firmly believes, professes and preaches that none of those existing outside the Catholic Church, not only pagans, but also Jews and heretics and schismatics, can have a share in life eternal; but that they will go into the eternal fire which was prepared for the devil and his angels, unless before death they are joined with Her; and that so important is the unity of this ecclesiastical body that only those remaining within this unity can profit by the sacraments of the Church unto salvation, and they alone can receive an eternal recompense for their fasts, their almsgivings, their other works of Christian piety and the duties of a Christian soldier. No one, let his almsgiving be as great as it may, no one, even if he pour out his blood for the Name of Christ, can be saved, unless he remain within the bosom and the unity of the Catholic Church.” (Pope Eugene IV, the Bull Cantate Domino, 1441.)
  • St. Augustine said of those who believed in God, but not rightly: “They run well, but they run the wrong way.” What good does it do for us to say we believe in Jesus and follow him, yet deny him in the Eucharist? What good does it do for him to say “This is my body. Take ye and eat,” St. Matthew 26:26, and then they say, “It’s only a symbol?”
  • What did the Fathers of the early Church have to say about it? Find out here: https://catholicism.org/eens-fathers.html Saint Augustine (died A.D. 430): “No man can find salvation except in the Catholic Church. Outside the Catholic Church one can have everything except salvation. One can have honor, one can have the sacraments, one can sing alleluia, one can answer amen, one can have faith in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost, and preach it too, but never can one find salvation except in the Catholic Church.” (Sermo ad Caesariensis Ecclesia plebem)
  • Those who have left the Church should fear, because Jesus said, “If he will not hear the Church, let him be to thee as the heathen and the publican.” St. Matthew 18:17. Theologians tell us, “This is a threat of damnation. Read THE ONE TRUE CHURCH by Fr. Arnold Damen, https://www.olrl.org/apologetics/one_church.shtml.

Act of Consecration to the Blessed Virgin (For infants at time of Baptism) – Fr. Noel le Mire, S.M. and adapted by W. Cole, S.M.

O blessed Virgin Mary our Mother,
when the Son of God decided
to take upon Himself our human life
in order that we might share in His Divine Life,
He did not wish to come to us
without your free cooperation.
He deliberately willed to have need of you.

Look down today from heaven upon little (name of infant).
He (or she) has received from his parents the life of man,
and now by the Holy Sacrament of Baptism,
he has been given a life which is infinitely superior,
the very life of God.
We know that just as God is his Father and our Father,
you are, in regard to his spiritual life,
his Mother and our Mother.

We confide this child to you.
Show yourself his (or her) Mother.
Watch over his (or her) education;
nourish him with the life of grace;
make him progress in his Christian life
just as his human parents aid him to progress
in physical as well as spiritual life.

Protect the precious life
which has just been received.
Be for him a real Mother
to guard him in your arms
when the devil seeks to destroy his spiritual life
in your Son Jesus Christ.
May he love you as Jesus Christ loved you,
for our love for you is nothing else but
a participation in the love of your Son for you.

In the name of this child (name of infant),
we wish to make today
his (or her) first prayer to his heavenly Mother.

Hail Mary,
full of grace,
the Lord is with Thee,
blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners
now and at the hour of our death.
